Jason Podplesky

Jason has made his living as a teacher, director, actor, and writer. He began playing guitar at the age of 10 with encouragement from his mother who was, herself, a professional musician. Although Jason’s career has primarily been in theatre and academia, music continues to be his lifelong passion. In New York City, he has worked with The Flea Theater, The Classical Theatre of Harlem, The Public Theater, MCC, The Gallery Players, Blue Box Productions, and was a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Director’s Lab. Regionally, his credits include The Human Race Theatre Company, The Guthrie Theater, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The Contemporary American Theatre Company, North Shore Music Theatre, Red Herring Theatre Company, The Know Theatre of Cincinnati, Cincinnati LAB Theatre, and concert:nova. His original musical Led Thespian was produced internationally at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018. Academically, Jason has taught classes at Wright State University, Wittenberg University, Denison University, The City University of New York, Ohio Dominican University, and Sinclair Community College. He holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music and a BFA in Acting from Otterbein University. He is currently works at the University of Cincinnati Foundation.
